bought with a price

I will be honest...one of the hardest part's of adoption Daniel and I faced was the financial side. We wrestled so much with all the different aspects. It was difficult for us to comprehend that a child, a living, breathing, precious gift from God could have a $ sign next to them. We had no idea where we would get the money to see it through...we are avid Dave Ramsey budgeters and didn't know what to do...it was a tough decision! We talked about it endlessly and in the end...like we knew all along He would...God provided everything we needed to cover the financial side and this isn't the first time he has "covered" the cost for us.

David Platt said something to this effect, "We don't adopt because we are the rescuers, we adopt because we are the rescued." Wow!! God the Father sent his son to my rescue...to pay the price for me! His life was my ransom.

Of course growing up in church and becoming a believer at an early age I knew that I was "bought with a price" (1 Corinthians 6:20) but I never really put that into full perspective when we were adopting Isaiah.

Probably most often we are asked the daunting question: "How much did it cost?".... Everyone seems to be intrigued by how much it cost to adopt a child. My first thought usually is "How much did it cost for you to give birth?" but after beginning to read a new book Orphanology and entirely new thought was brought to my attention.

If I were told that to save mankind I had to give my son...I would look at you like you had 4 eyes and would say absolutely not! Why...well because I love my son but guess what...so did God the Father! He loved his son Jesus but yet he did just that...he gave us HIS son so that we might live!

I can't say it better than this, "While it cost us a lot to adopt children, it cost God the blood of His own Son. It cost Christ to give up His whole life, in obedience to the Father. Christ, the one who "endured the cross" (Hebrews 12:1-2) came to redeem us and make us part of the family."

So next time you might be wondering how much it cost to adopt....think about the ultimate price that was paid on our behalf so that we might be adopted into the family of God!

3 Months and Counting

Isaiah is over 3 months at this point and actually nearing 4 in a few weeks! Time seriously is moving too fast! He has changed so much and we adore every moment with him! Daniel and I sit back and Ooo and Ahh over him and he absolutely loves all the attention!

Month 3:

Weight and Height: He had a weight check at 3 months and he was 10lbs 7oz and still hanging in the 5th percentile! Growing slowly! We didn't get his height :(.

Eating Habits: Eats on command now and is using Sim Sensitive but mainly Sim Organic! He is spitting up much less now that he has his reflux medication and he still squeals when we take the bottle to burp him.

Sleeping: He is a great little sleeper and he can sleep through just about anything! He sleeps about 6 hours at a time now! He sleeps in his crib and uses a crib wedge that has helped with his snoring issue! :)

Pacy or Thumb: He rotates...he likes both! More like a gnawing of this fist...maybe teething?! This first time mom has no idea!

Clothes: I have packed up most of the 0-3 and his is wearing some 3 month and some 3-6 month! Depends on the brand of clothing!

Favorite Activities: Bath time, Baby Einstein, cuddling, going for runs in his stroller, his play mat and swinging outside!

Baby First: He went on his first fishing trip down to the lake with mommy and daddy!
